Captain Jay McMillin was born in Pennsylvania, Jay’s family relocated to North Fort Myers in 1960. He has lived in the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area since. Growing up in North Fort Myers, Jay spent countless days fishing the Caloosahatchee River and Matlacha Pass (when he could get a ride to the bridge). Throughout his life, Capt. Jay has continued enjoying the waters of S.W. Fl. Having owned a number of boats, Capt. Jay has fished both the local backwater and offshore his entire life.
Graduating from high school in 1972, Jay started what turned out to be a 33 year career with Publix Super Markets, Inc. During his long career, Jay worked his way up to Store Manager, attending many workshops and special schooling which helped sharpen his managerial and speaking skills. Jay retired from Publix in June of 2005 to purchase TowBoatUS Cape Coral with Richard Paul and fulfill a lifelong dream of working on the water.
Jay and his wife, Roberta Gail, have been married over 38 years and have 2 grown children, Jason and Courtney. He has 3 grandchildren and he hopes to teach them how to fish, throw a cast net (while he still can) and help develop an interest in the great outdoors.
Jay enjoys all outdoor activities, particularly fishing and diving for bugs (Florida spiny lobster) during the sport season every July. He also is an avid fan of the University of Florida sports teams. GO GATORS!!!!
