Captain Ed Semon joined Towboat U.S. Cape Coral in October 2001, after a 20 year U. S. Coast Guard career. A resident of Cape Coral, Captain Ed is our senior captain. During his five years with the company, he has assisted hundreds of Southwest Florida boaters. He holds a 100 Gross Ton Master near Coastal License with an Assistance Towing Endorsement. During his Coast Guard career, Captain Ed was qualified as Coxswain [boat captain] on board many small Coast Guard rescue boats. In addition, he was qualified as a Deck Watch Officer aboard larger Coast Guard Cutters. These included 95 and 110-foot patrol boats as well as larger offshore patrol cutters up to 210 feet. Captain Ed’s Coast Guard career took him to diverse locations including Alaska, Savannah, Georgia, Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
